Next Stop: Amanjiwo Resort Borobudur, Central Java, Indonesia
Java is the fifth largest archipelago island located in beautiful Indonesia. It was once home to Hindu-Buddhist kingdoms and Islamic sultanates(territory ruled by a sultan). Java is split into 6 provinces including Central Java. The landscape of Central Java consists of volcanic mountains and expansive lush valleys. The people of Java are refered to as Javanese. Due to its volcanic lanscape, Central Java is known for its abundance of limestone. In addition, Java is famous for batik textile dying. The Amanjiwo Resort reminds me of a mystical ruin that could have been a vacation getaway or prayer ground built for a sultan. Every aspect of this luxury travel destination is dreamy. While staying here you can simply relax and enjoy the scenery or you can immerse yourself in Javanese culture. Things to do include hidden temple and palace tours, climb the volcanic Mount Merapi at midnight, meditate in the weathered Buddhist temple of Mendut or with local monks, witness Sumatran elephants paint, and shop the streets of Jalan Malioboro where you will find one of a kind artisan crafts and antiques. Below are stunning pictures I found on the resort website. You can also view other resorts owned by Aman Resorts here. Enjoy!
